Redlands Epoxy Floors installs epoxy flooring, polyaspartic and polyurea coatings, urethane cement and polished concrete for homes and businesses in Redlands, CA. We have spent more than twenty years on Inland Empire concrete, from detached residential garages to shop floors and warehouse slabs. This is one trade done full time rather than a coating sideline bolted onto another business.

Most of what decides whether a floor lasts is settled before any resin is opened. We read the slab first — moisture, the state of the joints and cracks, how deep the oil has soaked in, and the surface temperature the concrete will genuinely be at when material goes down — and those readings go into the proposal alongside the mil build and the product data sheet for the system we are proposing. On a cracked, spalled or oil-soaked floor that assessment comes back as a written repair-or-replace read, including the cases where the honest answer is that coating it is the wrong place to put the money. We would rather lose that job than place a system over a substrate that was never a candidate for one.

Our Approach

Nothing gets ordered for a floor until we know what the slab is doing. Moisture is measured with in-situ relative humidity probes to ASTM F2170 and read against the thresholds published in ASTM F710, and the number is written into the proposal. Moisture failure is the one condition almost every coating warranty in this trade excludes, which is exactly why it belongs on paper before the work is sold. Slabs poured before under-slab vapor retarders became standard practice get a test and a primer decision, never an assumption.

Concrete is opened with diamond tooling to an ICRI concrete surface profile we can name, never with acid, because an etched slab leaves a chemically softened skin and a coating keyed into softened material releases in sheets. Product category is bounded by SCAQMD Rule 1113, which holds floor coatings to 50 g/L VOC and industrial maintenance coatings to 100 g/L, keeps the two categories mutually exclusive, and prohibits applying or soliciting the application of an industrial maintenance coating for residential use — so residential and commercial work is quoted from separate product lines because the rule draws that boundary, not because we prefer it. Placement is booked against surface temperature and dew point instead of the calendar: air, surface and material all have to reach fifty degrees, the slab has to sit at least five degrees above the dew point, and a resin with roughly sixty minutes of pot life at 55 degrees has closer to twenty at 95. One crew carries the floor from grind to topcoat with nothing handed to a subcontracted installer, so whoever saw the concrete when it was opened is the same person calling the primer and the recoat timing.

Flake blends and metallic samples are shown as boards on your own floor under your own light before anything is ordered, because a two-inch chip cannot tell you how a blend reads across a full bay.
